What is Podobrace?
Podobraces / clamps are one of the methods of correcting ingrown and / or screwed nails. When nail deformation is the cause of ingrowth, correction becomes necessary.
The main task of the clamps, regardless of their type, is to restore the correct shape of the nail plate and its proper growth path.
Indications
-
Ingrowth caused by an abnormal shape of the nail.
-
Screwing nails.
-
Nail plate deformation.
-
Corns in the nail shaft.
-
Nail growth disorders.

Treatment
Before starting the therapy, a podiatry consultation is recommended in order to determine the further treatment. The therapy of the correction of an ingrown nail usually lasts from several to several months. Follow-up visits take place at an interval of 3-4 weeks. In most cases, it is necessary to use the buckle several times - reposition the buckle, changing its place and / or the tension force. The podiatrist approaches each case individually and decides which clamp to use during the visit.

In our offices we use:
-
Titanium buckle
-
Unibrace buckle
At the visit, the podiatrist selects the appropriate correction and, after prior preparation of the nail plate, applies a clamp. The buckles that we use in offices are wire buckles. The Unibrace buckle is made of surgical steel, while the titanium buckle is made of a nickel-titanium alloy. Both clamps are glued with a composite to the nail plate. The procedure is painless and non-invasive, and the clamp does not interfere with everyday life.
